| Why is there a foundation Friends of the Schola Cantorum Karolus Magnus? |
In order to keep the performance level of Gregorian chant high from a technical and artistic point of view, it is important to study and practise regularly. The Schola meets every Tuesday evening, vocalists attend training sessions and once a year they retire for a long study weekend. With a view to covering the costs of their activities, the Schola organises recitals and sells its recordings. However, this is rather an unstable basis for the Schola. They need a stronger financial footing and that has resulted in the foundation of the so called |
Friends of the Schola Cantorum Karolus Magnus. In this way, the Schola tries to attract an audience of people interested in the cultural tradition of Gregorian chant and in this way preserve it for future generations. |

How can I become a friend of the foundation? |
Any amount is welcome. Contributors receive a newsletter twice a year with reports on the Schola’s activities. A donation of at least € 12,- admits one person to all the recitals by the Schola in Nijmegen or anywhere else. A donation of € 18,- or more admits two people to all the concerts. It is our ambition to give two recitals in Nijmegen in spring and autumn. Besides, those people who donate € 12, - may buy our recordings at 40% discount. |
